About Us

Oríkì Beads is where tradition meets modern elegance. More than just a brand, it's a movement to celebrate African craftsmanship and Yoruba heritage through timeless, handcrafted beaded bags.

The Story Behind OB

Oríkì Beads began when I was about 1.5 years into my master’s program. I’ve always had a creative side—hairstyling was my go-to, but my busy schedule made it impossible to continue. One day, while scrolling on Instagram, I stumbled upon beaded bag-making. Something about it felt familiar yet exciting.

I ordered my first set of beads, sat on the floor in my room, and crafted my first bag. In that moment, I realised this was more than just a creative outlet—it was a way to connect with my heritage.

‘Oríkì’ in Yoruba refers to a name of praise and identity—something that speaks to who you are. I wanted every bag to do the same, telling a story of culture, elegance, and craftsmanship.
